Isthmus of Panama

The Isthmus of Panama is the narrow strip of land that extends from the border of Costa Rica to the border of Colombia and connects North America and South America. Scientists believe the formation of the isthmus is one of the most important geologic events to happen on Earth in the last 60 million years.

Atacama Desert (Chile)

The Atacama Desert is located in northern Chile between Argentina on the west and the Pacific Ocean on the east. Sparsely populated and containing considerable mineral resources, the Atacama Desert is one of the driest places in the world and one the top three tourist destinations in Chile.
